The Main character Len and he is part of a bombing crew. This is based on a true story. This books setting is in 1944 which is world war 2. Lens crews pilot dies so they get another one. His name is Johnny king. He gets warned by some retired guy that whoever he has flew with has ended up dead. So that makes him worried. Lens crew gets a mission to bomb Berlin. It took them 5 hours to get there. They fly over the target and release there bomb. As soon as they drop the bomb they get hit by the Germans. Johnny and len make it out But the five others died. Johnny and len hide in a little hut. They get hungry so Johnny goes out to get some food but the Germans found him and they hung him. They take len and they are driving to the campsite. He looks outside and sees all the people that got affected by the bombing. Then he realises that what he did was wrong.
