(this is just my summary of the whole thing)
Birth
If he hadn't survived the disease in 1564 called The Plague that swept through England, William Shakespeare wouldn't have been born. The disease was made by rat's fleas and had killed 200 people in Stratford where he was born.
As a Boy
William's father was a wealthy man who inherited farmland, and had two jobs which were glove making and giving licences to actor's. William and his father would watch the plays that would go on and he was amazed by all the excitement.
His studies were very hard, for he was not allowed to speak English when he was in the top classes, only Latin B.T.W: that was their original language. Even more, he was studying six days a week and school started at 6 am and finished at 5 pm.
Getting older
When he was eighteen years old he met Anne Hathaway, and in 1582 he was married to her. Anne lived with William at his parent's house and soon had three children: first Susanna, and then the twins called Hamnet (a boy) and Judith (a girl). Shortly after they had the three children,William left his family, why he did this, nobody knows.
Career
William moved to London and worked at a theatre sweeping floors, queuing the actors when to come on stage and looked after people's horses while they watched the play.
The theatre was a big round stadium where they could watch the Actors be stabbed and fake guts and blood would spill onto the ground. William was inspired.
He gathered his own company and started making his own plays like 'Titus Andronicus' which is about the daughter of Titus being attacked by men who are brothers. The men are killed and made into pie which is fed to the mother.
The pause
The disease of plague spread to London so they closed the theatre for two years until it was gone. In the meantime William made poems that were admired by many, and one of them was bought for one thousand pounds.
The ending of his career
Eventually, Queen Elizabeth l died in 1603 and James l became ruler. James l made William and his company change their name to The King's Men, and in honour of King James l he wrote 'Macbeth'. Whilst performing for him one time the theatre set on fire and he stopped and moved on in life.
Last Years
In his last years he moved back to his family. His two daughters had married and had their own family, and the son died. He left a great legacy for others to remember him by. William Shakespeare died on 23rd April 1616.
Personal Voice
I didn't mind this book, it had all the main facts/points about him. it looks hard to read but it's actually really simple. I mainly read this book to try different genres and it actually isn't that bad. There are other articles like this about people like: Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Guy Fawkes, Christopher Columbus and plenty more.
I like your book review Shay, you have added lots of detail and you have told me a lot about Shakespeare.
