Book Review #10

This book starts off by introducing a girl called Ivy Jensen. She was sound asleep one night when she heard a thrashing noise coming from her parent's bedroom. Ivy jolted forwards in shock. As she sat up she heard more noises, a gasp, a sputter and a moan. Then, the silence broke by an unfamiliar male voice. He said, " And now it's your turn, you won't feel a thing." Ivy's mother screamed, " Please no, don't do this, I have a....".  Since that night, Ivy couldn't stop thinking about what her mother wanted to say. Did she want to say that she had a child or that she had a wallet full of cash, it remained a mystery. After a few seconds, music started to play. Ivy grabbed her phone as quickly as she possibly could and dialled 9-1-1. She whispered, " I think someone just killed my parents." The operator asked her where she was and she nervously said that she was in her room, across the hall from her parent's room. The operator asked Ivy what her address and they sent someone over asap! Ivy started to lose her grip and dropped her phone on the hardwood floor, causing a big BANG. Ivy's bedroom light was not on but when the door cracked open, the light from the hallway leaked into her bedroom. The killer could see Ivy but she couldn't see him. " Good evening princess" he whispered. The killer's hair was long and silver, tied into a low ponytail. His face was covered in stubble. He lifted his head, and smiled at Ivy which caused his pointy tongue and crooked, yellow teeth to show. They both froze for a moment. The killer proceeded into Ivy's room and looked around at everything. Seconds later, the killer's eyes were fixed on Ivy and he said, " it's very nice to meet you ". Ivy felt a chill down her spine and she wanted to throw up. Sirens filled the silence and the killer froze for a few seconds. He then ran out of there house and got away with his crime. Six years later. Ivy has changed her identity and lives in a foster care home. She still fears that the killer might be out there and will come back for her one day. 

Questions:

Will the killer get caught for what he had done to Ivy's parents?
Will the anonymous killer come back for Ivy one day?

I rate this book a 10/10.

I liked how the start of the book kept me in suspense and hooked me in straight away. The way this book is written made me want to read on to find out what happened next. I am halfway through this book and I have never once felt like it started to get boring. There was plenty of twists and turns that I didn't see coming to keep me hooked in.

There was nothing I disliked.

Are Pirates real or not? This is the main question I have been wondering after finishing this book! From Jack and Annie’s, investigation they have found out that Pirates travel… Pacific ocean, Indian ocean, Asia, Africa, South America, North America, Atlantic ocean, Europe, Mediterranean sea and Australia. The Captain of the ship would give sailors / pirates, some of the treasure they found. Gold coins were called Doubloons, 8 doubloons were worth a whole year's payment for the sailors / pirates that obeyed the Captain's orders. On ship they have a chest filled with medication to treat injured men on deck, it’s like a first aid kit. Surprise, surprise on the ship they had ‘Pirate Rules.’

1. Every man in the crew shall get an equal share of what is stolen.
2. No fighting.
3. No gambling.
4. No women allowed on board ship.
5. Weapons must be kept clean and ready.
6. Punishment for stealing, running away from a fight, or keeping secrets is ‘DEATH!’

It tells you all about pirates who are well known, Captain Hook, Peter pan… Captain Hook and Peter Pan was written in 1904. If you are interested read this book! I find it fascinating.

I think this book is very different, because it say’s one part about pirates and then it moves into a completely different setting.

I don’t dislike anything about the book.

I recommend 4.5/5

This book is part of the Tom Gates series. The main characters are Tom who is a funny and forgetful person. The main thing that happens is that Tom gets a notice for a trip but forgets to bring it back. When he remembers that he had forgot he gets it back as fast as he can. He’s lucky there was room on the bus. He did loads of fun things there like making and racing rafts, midnight feasts and watching out for some very weird creatures. Before the trip he forgot to post a design that he made and was really upset. When he gets home will his frown turn upside down?

I rated this 5/5

I liked the comedy.

From what I have read I have liked so I’m going to give it a ⅗ because I have not read it all so that why i'm giving it a ok score.

Synopsis: Peter dragged Beck in a operation to stop the smugglers. Beck and Peter ended up chasing the smugglers into a plane full of diamonds. About to get shout in the plane, Back and Peter gather some gear and decided to jump. Gliding with their parachutes, Beck realised that they're going to end up in the flaming hot Sahara Desert. Walking in the desert, Beck the expert surviver went searching for food.Later he ended finding scorpions and them like they were a 5 star meal. But Peter on the other hand struggled, barely getting half of the scorpion swallowed. Can they withstand the blistering heat, or will they plummet to the ground?

I liked the whole book, mainly the part when they ate scorpions and when they put pee covered boxers around their heads.

I rate this book 5/5.

This is my 7th Book review and I am doing it one Des Hunt Series. The characters of this book are Jim and Jim’s Sister Mavis. In 1947 Jim and Mavis heard this sound of a bird. They went outside and saw a Black Huia- a bird that existed 40 years ago. This was the only bird left in the world and this was it. Jim and Mavis saw the bird fly away so they chased the Huia because they were concerned about it. They follow the bird down the railway tunnel. There are heaps of people that wanted to harm the bird so they kept an eye out. But they saw a creepy hooded guy haunting their steps. He wanted the bird so bad. 40 years later everyone including Jim’s Grandson Logan wanted to know where was the last Huia. But they creepy guy was on his mission to find them, kill them and get the bird. Will they creepy guy get the bird and kill them or will Logan help Jim and Mavis get the bird and get back safe to the house?

I liked this book because it has heaps of mystery in it and wants people to read the book.

I disliked nothing

I rate it 5/5 because it was superb book to read.
