Book Review 12
Genre: graphic novel
author: Helen Pearse and Andrew Burdan
There were two tribes: Katipua - Ancestors of Man, and Parahe - Guardians of nature. The land of Katipu was dying; there were no more animals to kill and the plant were withering away. The land was barren. And being a good chief of his people, Parekoi and one other travelled to the mountain ancestor, Matawehi. On the mountain was a mauri stone which would make the ground luscious again.
On the journey, The two men felt like they were being followed. Soon after they found out the wife of the chief, Manuhiwa had tagged along at the end. She shouldn’t have come for she was hapu with twins, but it was too far to walk back so they tread on. They came to the location and knew that Taramea would be there. Taramea was chief of Parahe(The other tribe). Parahe was also known as the fairy folk, they look after nature. Taramea was scary looking with blue skin and dark blue koru tattooed. He was the keeper of the mauri stone.
Parekoi asked for the Mauri stone for 100 moons but in order for them to receive it they had to give Taramea something in return. Then he saw Manuhiwa hapu and found out that she had twins. If Parekoi got the mauri stone in return taramea wanted the first born after he had stoned returned back to him, intending for the first born son to marry the daughter soon to be.
And that is just the beginning of the magnificent story.

I liked it because you didn't just have to read words but you also had to infer from the pictures. I liked everything except for how simple and short it is.
