Arohanui revenge of the fey

Arohanui revenge of the fey
By Helen Pearse - Otene and Andrew Burdan
Genre: Graphic novel
13/20
This book is set in a village and the villagers are starving to death because the crops are dying. It is also set in the mountain where the mauri stone is, this stone that can give the crops life so the villagers don’t die from starvation.

The main characters are Parekoi, Manuiwa and the Parehe (The fairy folk). Parekoi is the chief of the village, he is both selfish and selfless. To get the mauri stone they had to give their first born child and he said yes but when the Parehe came, he sacrificed himself. Manuiwa is the wife of Parekoi and is listens to his decisions, because when they made the deal with the Parehe she didn’t argue. The Parehe like to see people suffering because they made a deal to give the first born son for the mauri stone.

Parekoi’s village was low on food and the crops were dying. The only way to avoid people dying of starvation was the mauri stone, the mauri stone can give life to crops. It was up in the mountains and was guarded by the Parehe. It was their only chance so they started their hike up the mountains. They arrived at their destination. There was the mauri stone flying in mid air. As Parekoi grabbed for the mauri stone, they Parehe came out and said, “stop right there”. They wanted something in return of the mauri stone. They wanted the first born child!!!

I rated this a 5/5 because the pictures help you and the story hooked me in. I had no dislikes. I liked how the story is set out in the book, it makes it easier.
