Genre: Graphic Novel.
In the village Kūwai, a young slave girl called Meariki was sent to go get Hineamerau, the daughter of the chief. But with her is Pehi the Prince of the Kaitipua, and is going to marry Hineamuru. From out of nowhere, Tanekikwa went to the village seeking for his beloved, Hineamuru. Tanekikwa calls out for his eagle with his flute wrapped inhis hands. They fly in the sky seeking for Hinemarua and saw her in the river. The eagle swoops down and claws Hinemaru taking her away.
Straight away, Pehi and Meariki ran back to the village and told the chief that Hinemarua was taken. Pehi and the slave went out to save Hinemarua. But first, Makura the village mind reader tried to read Mearki's mind. But couldn't. The warriors went ot the cave of Whatupoa, but all the warriors died and Pehi was turend into a pig. So Meariki went to fix the problem and refills the water in seconds. So Meariki gets 3 things that was holding the pig which is Pehi. Te Wero, a fire tipped knife, a diamond scale shield, and Pehi. Of they went to fight Tanekikwa.
The journey is long and dangerous, and will have to rescue Hineamuru before she gets married by Tanekikwa. Will they destroy Tanekikwa and rescue Hinemarua?
I liked this book because the pictures supported the story and the story was interesting.
I disliked nothing.
