Meariki- The Quest for Truth Book review 13/20
Author- Helen Pearse Otene & Andrew Burdan
Genre- Graphic Novel
In a village named Kuwai lived a muscular chief called Te Mihiau followed by his servant or companion Makura. He also had a girl slave called Meariki and Te Mihiau had a boy called Pehi who took care a little for Meariki but still was bossy around her. There was this bad grey guy called Tanekikiwa with a eagle and had about 6 bad wifes. Before everyone was living a good life. Then the bad enemy came and tried to get this girl back called Hineamuru because she was with Pehi and Meariki came along. But then since Tanekikiwa trespassed Te Mihiau’s village and told him that he is going to get Hineamuru.
The characters are Te Miahau a chief of the village and he has a companion Makura with his boy Pehi and his girl slave Meariki. Also there was this girl that Pehi liked and her name was Hineamuru. There was the bad enemy Tanekikiwa with his eagle and bad 7 or 6 wifes. There was also a water necklace that cures and a shield. Pretty much all the people have muscular bodies and even Meariki was mean to Pehi when he turned into a pig and then she was calling him a scared pig because he was little and then when he was free he tried to make a plan to get the necklace because he wanted to grow back into a human so that was the only way to.
The story went like this. First Pehi and Meariki sneaked out to find the girl Hineamuru. But she escaped because Pehi let her go but Meariki wanted to do her job. Then a bad enemy came to get Hineamuru. His name was Tanekikiwa. Then they went again to get her and they ended up traveling everywhere in a lot of places and went into wrong things. Then the bad enemy came and took Hineamuru and then they tried to get her back but it ended up that Meariki died and they were both sad and that’s how the story ended.
I liked this book review because this was a little backstory and it sounded pretty cool.
I disliked that there were heaps of things going around and it was a little hard to get in your head.
I rate this a 3/5 or 8/10.
