Meariki the quest for truth

Meariki the quest for truth
By Helen Pearse - Otene and Andrew Burdan
Genre: graphic novel
14/20
The setting is in a village and a cave. The village is not a very good village if you are a slave, they treat you like you have no feelings. The is were the spider lady lives what her giant pet spider.

The main characters are Meariki, Pehi, hineamuru and Tanekikwa. Meariki is a slave of the village and is not treated fairly. Pehi likes Hineamuru and wants to marry her but is cruel to meariki, the slave. Hineamuru is a maiden that is going to get married to Pehi. Tanekikwa Doesn’t want Pehi and Hineamuru to get married instead he wants to marry Hineamuru.

So what happens is That Hineamuru goes to the river to have a swim because of it being a hot day. Tanekikwa wants to marry her but he knows she will say now so he kidnaps her when she is in the river. Pehi and Meariki have to find Hineamuru before it is too late. Will they succeed in this dangerous quest?

I rate this a 4/5. I liked how at the end it has a unexpected turn. I disliked that there were so many maori names to remember.
