Robert Hoge was born ugly. Very ugly. His legs were uneven and his face was out of shape. His Mum couldn't imagine bringing Robert home, and even worse, not even look at him.
After a while of loneliness for Robert Hoge, his family had a vote to bring him home. It was up to his brothers and sisters, Michael, Gary, Paula, Catherine to decide. They all said yes. So Robert Hoge finally went back home in Brisbane, Australia.
It was hard for Robert to walk with the uneven legs. So his parents decided to do the operation that could kill him or change his life. They went ahead.
It was a success and Robert amputated his legs and changed his face so he will look a bit more normal But he still till looked ugly.
Robert started to go to school. He had got himself artificial legs and could walk. Robert had some difficult times getting involved. He always got called names like toe nose or four eyes, but he also made a friend. His friend's name was Robert F who was helpful and caring for Robert.
At the age of fourteen Robert finally finds a sport that he could play. Lawn bowls. He had a great coach called Frank who taught him and supported him.
Finally, it was the big choice. Robert had to decide to have a big operation that will make him normal. But no, it was him, his legs, and his ugly face against the world.

Robert Hoge has done pretty much every type of writing there is. He has worked as a journalist, a speechwriter, a science writer, and a political advisor. He also has written a lot of short stories and articles that have been published in Australia and overseas. When he's not writing, Robert enjoys photography and talking with people about looking different and being disabled. He lives in Brisbane and is married, and has two daughters.

I chose this book because I read the synopsis and I felt bad for him.
Why I liked this book:
I love this book because it's an inspirational and heart touching story because he is conquering and not giving up because of his disability.
I rate this book 11/10.
