It was gloomy and it looked like the sun was going down. The chief parekoi, and his travelling companion te huka set off on a journey so that he could get food for his people. Parekoi’s daughter wanted to go but her father didn’t think it was a good idea, she demanded to go anyways. When Parekoi got up the mountain the alien guy greeted the people of Kaitipua. The people up the mountain weren't like the Maoris of the earth because they were rude, angry, big (tall) and ugly, but the maoris from earth were loving, caring, kind people that worked together and helped each other.
The one thing that te huka, perekoi and his daughter went up the mountain for was bought home, but there was one thing that was missing Perekoi’s daughter, it was the only way that they could get the Mauri stone. Pareoi made a deal with the people of the mountian that they could have his daughter for ten moonsand that was it. But when perekoi told Manuhia she didn’t know what to think it was her first daughter the first born child and parekoi gave her away for 10 moons so that the people Kaitipua wouldn’t starve. For months days had past and Taramea watches his daughter grow everyday. The twins grew and then 8 years pasted before one day Mira stole Kahus sting that he was playing with and they joked around before Miri ran into the forest and Kahu didn’t think it was a good Idea so called her to comeback but MIri kept running before Kahu could see where she went then Miri sacred kahu and they saw a parehe kahu told her to come back because parehe take children but then Miri tied up kuratwhiti’s hands together with Kahus rope.
Kahu didn’t think that Miri should do that because Parehe take children but then the parehe asked what the rope was for, Kahu showed her some games with the rope but then Kahu and Miri had to leave because her dad came over to see what they were doing.
I rate this book a ⭐⭐⭐. 5 / 5 because it's not exactly the type of book I like to read but it wasn't really bad.
One thing I liked was that the book has pictures, and that's because I like pictures in books so that I don’t get bored of reading words.
One thing I disliked was that at some parts I was getting confused which goes first so I got my ruler and measured then I found where I need to start reading from.
