Meariki - The Quest for Truth by Helen Pearse Otene and Andrew Burdan #19

Genre - Graphic Novel
In the village Kūwai, a young slave girl called Meariki has been sent to fetch Hineamaru the daughter of the chief. But accompanying the princess is Pehi, who is the Prince of Kaitipua, soon to be chief when married Hineamuru. Meariki soon realizes that Pehi is just selfish and lazy. But suddenly, Tanekikiwa, a demon,  arrives out of nowhere inside the villages walls. Seeking his betrothed, Hineamuru. With that, he called his eagle with the flute he beared in his hands, and kidnapped Hineamuru while in the stream.

Once Meariki and Pehi return to the village, they told the chief that his daughter had been taken. But soon after the slave and Pehi were about to leave to rescue, Makura, the village mind reader, went to read Meariki's mind but couldn’t. Off the warriors went to the cave of Whatupoa, however all the warriors died and Pehi was turned into a pig. So Meariki fixed the problem; refilling the bowl with sacred water in seconds rather than years. In doing so, Matariki was granted 3 choices from the webbing that holded the pig (pehi), and weapons. Te Wero, a fire tipped knife, a diamond scale shield, and Pehi. Off they set to the lair of Tanekikiwa.

The journey is long and dangerous, and to rescue Hineamuru before she has to marry Tanekikiwa. Demons, Two Headed wolfs, and man eating maidens. Will the two be able to rescue their friend, or will they become the enormous eagles meal?

I liked this book because it is very easy to read, and instead of having to image a picture in your head, the picture is just right in front of you to see.
I don’t have anything I disliked.
Rate - 5 / 5 because it’s very detailed.
